Bio
Sarah Clinton is a Nashville-based painter working with various media to create art that sparks curiosity and connection. Inspired by her journey as a parent of a child with special needs, Sarah has cultivated an ability to shift her perspective, finding beauty in overlooked moments. Her work is featured in the Soundwaves Gallery at Nashville Soccer Club’s GEODIS Park and was exhibited in the 2024 Flying Solo Exhibition at the Nashville airport. As a member of the Chestnut Group, she supports land conservation through plein air painting and helped launch the Fearlessly and Wonderfully Created Fine Art Show, benefiting Saddle Up!

Statement
I create representational and figurative paintings with an impressionistic flair. My fabric and paper mixed media backgrounds are sometimes chosen with a specific subject in mind, while other times they are created first and then inform the painting. My intention is always to invite viewers to connect and explore the stories and emotions they imagine behind each piece. While my subjects often reflect my personal thoughts and experiences, I also enjoy working on commissioned pieces that tell a story in a unique way, whether that is through a portrait or a depiction of a special place.

"What makes this residency unparalleled is the support that Mollye and Sai have provided. Not only do they champion our outreach and programming to engage with the public, but they have also brought in incredible artists who have shared their expertise in so many areas — grant writing, artist residency programs, exhibition strategies, and more. We’ve had the chance to receive peer critiques and host studio visits from established artists in the region. And on top of that, we have the opportunity to exhibit work every month during the Dada Nashville Art Crawl — where there is a steady group of art lovers who come out to engage with new work."
